Celebrate greyhound pyjama season with us in the gardens!
This event is free & family-friendly. Everyone is welcome regardless of age, ability or identity, but please know we are pro-greyhound welfare and anti-dog racing. Low energy, chill vibes. Humans without greyhounds are just as welcome (especially if you’d like to come along and ask any questions about getting yourself a noodle dog!)
BYO greyhound in their comfiest jammies – but please dress your hound for the weather and be mindful of their comfort! If it’s too warm, it’s better to let them be nakey. You’re also encouraged to bring a picnic rug or some snacks to relax with us on the lawn.
Please prioritise the safety and wellbeing of everyone in attendance – if your dog is reactive or uncomfortable in large groups, they may be happier at home. Please read and agree to our Terms & Conditions before attending.
We’ll also be holding a raffle to raise funds for Melbourne rescue org, Amazing Greys! To learn more, click the link below.

Very chill vibes. We’ll just be hanging out, having a chat while our long dogs sniff on-leash. This meetup doesn’t have a formal structure or activity so you’re encouraged to make friends and break out into groups for a walk if you’d like.
You might have seen this video or this video which gives you a pretty good insight into a Long Dog Club meetup. They’re especially perfect for hounds or humans with limited energy or mobility, and those looking to socialise with like-minded people and their dogs.

This is a safe space for rescue greyhounds and their owners. This is not a space for pro-racing discussions or any anti-social behaviour. Long Dog Club supports greyhound welfare and is firmly opposed to the suffering of animals caused by the racing industry.
If you agree, you are welcome here as long as you are gentle and respectful of the dogs and other humans! We don’t discriminate based on age, ability, race, gender, sexual orientation or anything else. Long dogs love everyone.

Absolutely! Humans without dogs are just as welcome to join us. We understand that there are many people who love greyhounds but may not have their own or would like to get to know the breed first so this is a perfect opportunity!
However, as much as we love all dogs, some greyhounds present may not feel comfortable with non-greyhound breeds. Please be aware of this and limit bringing other breeds too close to the hounds.
Please ask the humans whether their dog would like to interact with yours and do not force interaction. If your dog isn’t socialised or comfortable in large groups, please be mindful that they might be happier at home or off to the side of the gathering. Please be familiar with dog behavioural cues and don’t ignore signs that a dog may be uncomfortable.

Bring yourself and your greyhound in their comfiest jammies, plus whatever else you both need to be comfortable. Please be conscious of the weather and bring sun protection. There is a cafe nearby so bring your card if you’d like a treat!
Your greyhound is required to be on leash, as this is a public space in Victoria.

There is disabled parking and ramp access to the entrance of the Gardens at the end of Podbury drive. There are some steps and gravel paths further into the gardens but we are aiming to set up in a place that can be accessed by everyone. However, we will be on the grass which can pose some accessibility challenges for some mobility aid users.
We recognise the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyard and will do our best to accomodate your needs and ensure you’re comfortable at our events. The gardens have plenty of places to sneak off to if you or your hound find yourselves overwhelmed! Please email Kayley if you have a question or specific access needs.
